Subject to some restrictions, the County’s main office will remain open and accessible during regular office hours for the public who need to attend the office for urgent enquiries or to issue payments. For the safety of the public and staff, all visitors will be asked to maintain the recommended two meter distance separation from other individuals when in the County office and to adhere to recommended hygiene protocols when entering the office.
Where possible and in an effort to limit the potential spread of this virus, instead of attending the office to issue payments on accounts, individuals are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to make electronic payments for accounts receivable or services being purchased from the County.
Payments can be made via a number of platforms, which include: "on-line” banking, credit card, etransfers, or cheques sent through the mail. Specific details about submitting payments via those alternatives can be accessed via http://www.countyofnewell.ab.ca/p/pay-a-bill-
There may be a limited number of staff available in the office so individuals are encouraged to e-mail (http://countyofnewell.ab.ca/p/staff-directory) or call in (403-362-3266) with enquiries to see if the matter can be addressed through those methods. If a specific staff member is working off site during this period, you will be provided with contact information for that individual.
The regular Council meeting schedule will continue, but meetings will likely be conducted through an "online service.” Individuals wishing to view Council meetings or wanting to engage with Council during a portion of the meeting should attend the County office and they will be allowed to view the proceedings and participate through the audio-visual equipment that will be available in the office.
County Council and Management will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will be posting periodic updates through Social Media applications and on the County’s web site when a change in strategy or approach is required.
County residents are reminded that they can register to receive update alerts and emergency notifications that can be sent to their mobile device through Newell Notify. To sign up for that service, click on the following link. http://www.countyofnewell.ab.ca/p/newellnotify.
