  • According to Alberta’s Safety Traffic Act, the law requires all occupants traveling in a vehicle, to wear a seatbelt
  • The use of occupant restraints reduces the likelihood of sustaining an injury
  • Seatbelts have been shown to increase the chance of survival when in a collision by 50%
  • In Alberta, drivers are responsible for the proper restraint of children under 16 years old
  • In a collision, one unrestrained person increases the risk for all of the occupants in the vehicle
  • Airbags only function properly if the occupant is restrained in a proper position by a seatbelt
