A penalty of 3% will be levied on all unpaid CURRENT taxes as at 4:30 p.m. June 15, 2019. To avoid penalties, all CURRENT taxes must be paid on or before June 15, 2019.
County Residents are reminded that a signed fire permit is required prior to kindling fires on lands. Fire permits can be obtained at the County of Newell office during normal business hours. All permit holders are required to contact your local Fire Department prior to lighting the fire and follow all recommendations / conditions stated on the permit without exception. Failure to follow the permit conditions may result in fines.
The County of Newell would like to remind everyone that the sprinkling of road allowances by any sprinkler irrigation system is strictly prohibited. For more information, please check out our Sprinkling of Road Allowance Bylaw 1743-11 for more information.
Renewal Period- rules changed last year (April 1, 2018)
Not all things that are pretty are nice! Scentless Chamomile (Tripleurospermum perforatum) is a prohibited noxious weed in the County of Newell. It can take over gardens, grazing land and crops. Keep an eye out for this weed! If spotted or for more information call the Ag Service Department @ 403-362-3266.
